Consulting — Embedded Strategic Advisory

Senior-level guidance
without the full-time hire.

Some organizations are navigating a significant knowledge transformation but are not ready to hire a full-time Director of Knowledge Management. They need senior-level architectural guidance, decision support, and implementation oversight for a defined period. That is what this engagement provides.

What this engagement covers

I embed as a strategic partner for a defined period — typically two to six months — providing the guidance and oversight your knowledge and content teams need to make good architectural decisions, avoid common transformation failures, and build toward a system that does not require external help to maintain.

This is not a retainer for on-demand tasks. It is a structured engagement with defined check-ins, documented decisions, and clear accountability on both sides.

Architectural direction

Guidance on content architecture decisions: taxonomy, metadata, governance, tooling choices, and system design at the level where those decisions have long-term consequences.

Stakeholder alignment

Supporting your leadership in building organizational alignment around the knowledge transformation: what it is, why it matters, and what it requires from different teams.

Implementation oversight

Review and course correction as the implementation proceeds. Catching architectural drift early before it compounds into a problem that requires a rebuild.

Team capability building

Working alongside your knowledge and content teams to build the architectural thinking they need to sustain the system after the engagement ends.

Working model

Engagements typically include two structured sessions per week: one working session with the operational team and one strategic check-in with leadership. Between sessions I am available for asynchronous questions on decisions that cannot wait for a scheduled call. All decisions and rationale are documented as we go.

The engagement has a defined end point. The goal is a team that does not need me to continue operating at a high level.

Deliverable

Ongoing strategic guidance, documented architectural decisions, and a team capable of sustaining the system independently.

Timeline: Typically 8–24 weeks. Can be extended by mutual agreement with defined scope.
